Teresa Irvin Copenhaver
Very few people in governmental relations today possess the depth of understanding the legislative and regulatory process that Teresa has developed over her career. A Senior Associate in the government relations practice at Triad, Teresa found her way onto our team after being a part of the launch of Pennsylvania Legislative Services. There, she established an extraordinary list of political and policy contacts in the legislative, executive and regulatory areas of government. While at PLS, Teresa also connected with a broad range of trade associations, businesses and just about everyone else who follows state government.
Because Teresa came from the business sector and not inside the State Capitol, she has forged great relationships across party lines, something that has benefitted many of Triad’s valued clients. Those clients have run the gamut from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. While Teresa is a meticulous gatherer of information and a heady analyst, her most important trait is her tenacity -- getting to know the client from the inside out in order to provide them with a comprehensive approach to strategically manage issues they are facing on and off the Hill.
Although Teresa has been involved in a wide range issues, her main focus continues to be energy. From all-things-Marcellus Shale to alternative energy; from electric generation and supply to emissions standards, Teresa has it covered – and then some. Not only does she provide timely information and open the doors to crucial decision-makers, she also tracks down grant and financing opportunities along the way. Teresa also provides a critical bridge to Triad’s Communications Practice by using her in-depth knowledge of her clients to help them project an appropriate public image, whether through new web sites or brochures, or through press releases and media events.
Finally, Teresa was a social media devotee before it became a worldwide sensation. As a business development pro, she realized early on the importance of social networking and can be found on Plaxo, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. Teresa served as the President for the Susquehanna Valley Jaycees. She is currently on the board of the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley which serves the south-central residents in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, Lancaster, Juniata and Mifflin counties, and also is on the Executive Board of the ARC. She is a graduate of the Class of 2008 of Leadership Harrisburg Area and serves on a committee for Leadership Harrisburg Area. She is a member of the Women in PA Government Relations, an associate member of the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association, and has been listed in Biltmore Who’s Who and Cambridge Who’s Who.
